"I have a Grade 11 education and no computer skills. It's pretty upsetting and it hasn't quite sunk in yet." The closure marks the end of a company that started 47 years ago as a small fruit stand at the corner of Queen and Coxwell Streets in Toronto and grew into a chain of discount grocery and dry goods stores employing 800 people in 10 communities throughout southwestern Ontario. Stavro is also chairman of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd. (MLSEL), the controlling company of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Raptors and the Air Canada Centre. The closure does not affect MLSEL. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner. Further reproduction or distribution is prohibited without permission.
