Mississauga, Ont.
A single bullet was fired through a window and into the boy's house, hitting him around 10:30 p.m., Const. Thomas Ruttan confirmed. Police believe the house was targeted. The shooting took place at 51 Ardglen Dr., a townhouse near Kennedy Rd. S. and Clarence St. "It is an active investigation," Ruttan said, as officers at the scene tried to piece together the sequence of events that led to the tragedy. "There were immediate family members in the home at the time," said Insp. Rob Higgs. But police say they aren't sure whether family members knew whoever it was who fired the fatal shot. "It's unclear whether or not there was any connection between the family of the boy and the shooters," said Const. George Tudos. "We have lots of witnesses, but we need other bureaus to come in and assist to interview as many of them as we can." Police Chief Jennifer Evans addressed the community late today in relation to the shooting. She assured people that her officers, "will work tirelessly in order to identify and apprehend the person, or persons, responsible for Kesean's death." Police have set up a command post in the middle of the road near the end of a row of townhomes. The Criminal Investigation Bureau was continuing a search into Thursday morning as uniformed officers moved among the townhomes beyond police tape that cordoned off the entire road. Earlier, police had swarmed the area with tactical teams and a canine unit who swept the area. "At this point we're just trying to determine what's taken place and who's responsible," Ruttan said.
