Fresh water would be welcomed in Welcome
Northumberland News

Cobourg, Ont.
According to Port Hope municipal staff, 22 wells recorded excess allowable limits of chloride and of those, six wells have been fixed. Combined with the 15 other residences having water delivered to their door, that equates to a little more than 320,000 gallons or roughly 1.2 million litres -- enough to fill half of an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Since 1990, a number of reports and studies from the MOE, MTO, and municipality have been done to estimate the feasibility and overall cost of extending water services from Port Hope to Welcome.
