"I said [Brittney Lucas] wasn't planning to bring the board with her but was told it doesn't matter, these parents have indicated they don't want their daughters rooming with your daughter," Ms. Lucas explained of the meeting, held with Brittney's teacher as well as the school's principal and vice-principal.

"I think it was more than that, but can't talk about what happens with kids," he explained, noting that all issues would "absolutely" have been discussed with the Lucas family as per board policy.

"The school did not present the whole scenario to me properly and did not give me enough time or opportunity to make sure Brittney wouldn't miss out on this trip. They owe me and Brittney a proper apology, but there's no way to restore what she's lost."
