"We crochet them," organizer Juliet Vandenburg explained. "We cut the bags into strips and we join the strips together to make yarn and we crochet the mats with the yarn -- It's an awesome use for them really."

"I never thought I'd be able to do it, now I can't put it down," Ms. Vandenburg said of crafting the mats. "Just the thought of knowing that this is going to relieve someone else's stress, you know, provide something valuable for them, and it lasts for years, and years and years -- it's almost indestructible."
