Burlington, Ont.
"We're best friends," said He, who turned 14 just three days before the doubles final. "We get along really well." "I was really nervous in the finals," He said. "Then my confidence got down. I tried to stay positive but it was pretty hard." He wasn't the only Burlington player contending for a Canadian title on the weekend. Juliana Motyl also reached the finals in the under-18 championship. Motyl, the No. 1 seed, breezed through her first four matches. She opened the tournament with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Carmen Sandor in the second round. She followed that up with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Manitoba's Anita Paskvalin in the third round and then topped Anna Anuszkiewicz 6-1, 6-1 in the quarter-finals. Motyl continued to roll in the semifinals, beating fifth-seeded Stephanie Roy 6-1, 6-3. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
