Abstract (Document Summary)

Bob Greacen was a skinny kid with confidence in his jump shot when he started playing basketball in the fifth grade.

"I was a typical suburban kid," said the 50-year-old Greacen, who grew up in South New Jersey and attended the now-defunct Merchantville High. "I had a basket in my backyard and I played at the local Y. They had a league for kids in the fifth grade.

"I was fortunate enough to be on an NBA Championship team in '71," Greacen said. "That was pretty neat. I was on a state championship team in high school, too, and that was neat. I don't know if it's a high point. I was lucky to have good coaches and I made a lot of friends. That's the high point."
