Located next to Oxford Valley Mall at Langhorne, near Route 1 in lower Bucks County, Sesame Place is the nation's only theme park based on the "Sesame Street" TV show. Designed for families with children ages 3 to 13, the 10-acre park features more than 50 interactive "play experiences and water adventures." They range from a three-story high cargo net children can climb to a five-story-high water ride.
Crystal Cave is along Crystal Cave Road, three miles north of the Virginville exit of Route 222 near Kutztown. It is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (later in summer) through Nov. 30. Admission is $8, $4.75 for children 4 to 11, free for children under 4. Information: (610) 683-6765.
Other highlights include a 23rd annual Preakness Parade at 11 a.m. Saturday and the Triple Crown Ball, called the social event of the year, at 7 p.m. May 16. There also will be a country music concert Saturday, hot air balloon races Saturday and Sunday, a May 15 schooner race and a weeklong block party on Water Street in downtown Baltimore.
