Abstract (Document Summary)

[Martha "Marti" Davis], who sells anhydrous ammonia for Air Products and Chemicals, was among a record number of Smokeout participants in Lehigh County this year and among millions who had given up tobacco products in conjunction with Smokeout nationwide.

Davis, a Florida native on temporary assignment in Trexlertown, was one of only a few in Lehigh County who had quit on a previous Smokeout day, according to the local Cancer Society unit.

Karen Schmoyer, a 21-year-old Allentown resident and preschool teacher, participated in her first Smokeout yesterday with a survival kit containing gum, candy, headless matches and tips for staying away from smoking during the holidays.
