Playing college sports is more than just stats
[FIFTH Edition]
Morning Call
-
Allentown, Pa.
[Fred Young], who is in his 36th year as a government and economics teacher at Palmerton High School, found out about the college recruiting process as a father. Three of his sons -- Bobby, George and Mike -- all Palmerton graduates, played collegiate athletics. Another son, Frederick, didn't attend college. Young stresses that "College, Athletics and You" is not going to help your son or daughter gain an athletic scholarship. It is more of a blueprint for an unheralded athlete who wants a chance at the collegiate level. Young defines an expert as "someone whose livelihood depends upon his or her ability to judge athletic talent. A college coach, recruiter, scout or professional athlete fit this description."
