Abstract (Document Summary)

Local trout anglers continue to take numerous sizeable fish from the Lehigh River and area streams. Fathead minnows seem to be the most effective bait, with fly fishermen doing well with emergers and caddis larvae fished on the bottom. Cedar Creek, Jordan Creek, Little Lehigh Creek, Ontelaunee Creek, Switzer Creek and Big Trout Creek are scheduled to be stocked again this week.

Willie's Bait & Tackle, Cementon (610-261-2767): Local anglers have brought about 25 tagged trout from Lehigh River so farbiggest fish so far is 211/2 inchesMike Zemlansky of Walnutport caught a 211/ 2-inch, 31/2-pound rainbow and a 17-inch brook trout Thursday from Hockendauqua Creek on a fathead minnows; caught a 36-inch, 16-pound striper the same night on a big Rapala at Beltzville LakeCarisa Druckenmiller, 12, of Northampton, caught a 181/4-inch, 23/4-pound tiger trout from Hockendauqua Creek on a fathead minnowlocal trout streams still have plenty of fish left over.
