During the course of my career, I've interviewed plenty of NFL players, talked strategy with NFL coaches, covered numerous NFL games (including a Super Bowl) and written I don't know how many NFL columns. Jets linebacker Vernon Gholston won the 2009 rookie Madden Bowl, which is contested each year at the site of the Super Bowl. [...] during my first month as a columnist in Jacksonville, Fla., in 2006, then-Jaguars running back Fred Taylor actually used Madden buttons as a way to describe an on-field move he'd pulled off in a game - "I used a little L1 (button) then the circle, a little bit of (the) X for a burst, then I hit the triangle at the end," he explained to Mike Wright, my Florida Times-Union colleague.
