Abstract (Document Summary)

Arik Ze'evi, a bronze medal winner at the 2004 Olympics, didn't disappoint the home crowd at the judo competition in Petah Tikva on Wednesday. He won the gold medal in the 100kg weight class with ease, putting on a show for the enthusiastic audience.

The crowd showered Ze'evi with applause, but saved its loudest cheers for the women's 63kg final between Israel's Alice Schlesinger, the bronze medalist at the 2005 World Junior Championships, and Argentina's Daniela Krukower, the 2003 world champion. Tied after five minutes, the match extended into an extra four-minute "golden score" period in which the first person to get a point on the opponent wins.
