Abstract (Document Summary)

Polish-born soloist Elza Kolodin did, mercifully, not indulge in virtuoso fireworks while presenting Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2, although she obviously had the capacity to do so. Instead, she highlighted the work's musical qualities and courageously deviated from the current trend of placing emphasis on dexterity. She also shaped phrases with loving care and with a delightfully soft, light touch. With slow movement, she sensitively captured the lyric ambiance and there was nothing mechanical or technique-obsessed in the final fast movement

Israeli music history was made on Saturday night at Tel Aviv's Hangar 11. The five-hour concert provided a triple serving of popular Israeli bands Rockfour, Monica Sex and Ayfo Hayeled.
