Abstract (Document Summary)

After a tense but quiet day in the Gaza Strip following the army's operation in Khan Yunis early yesterday morning, Palestinians last night fired mortar shells at Nisanit in the northern part of the strip, Kfar Darom, the industrial site at the Erez crossing, and Kibbutz Nativ Ha'asserah inside Israel.

The West Bank was also noticeably quiet yesterday, but toward nightfall shots were fired at the Tulkarm district coordinating office and at an IDF patrol west of Ramallah. In Hebron last night, heavy gun battles between IDF soldiers and Palestinians occurred after Palestinians fired from Abu Sneneh towards the Avraham Avinu quarter and other Jewish homes in the area. No one was hurt but one bullet hit an army jeep.
