Abstract (Document Summary)

[Avshalom Vilan] and Knesset Law Committee Chairman Ophir Pines linked the bill to Katsav's decision to grant an early release to Margalit Har-Shefi, even though the bill does not apply to Har-Shefi, since she was not charged with or convicted of assassinating Rabin.

MK Shaul Yahalom (NRP) blasted Vilan, Pines and [Dalia Rabin-Pelossof] for linking Har-Shefi to [Yigal Amir]. "There is no connection between the pardon to Har-Shefi and the issue we are discussing today," Yahalom said. "In linking the two, you are causing harm to the bill and to Rabin's memory." Yahalom also charged that the Left was using the pardon of Har-Shefi as an excuse to undermine Katsav's standing.
