Abstract (Document Summary)

The IKBKAP gene, which encodes the IKAP protein, was discovered by Dr. Anat Blumenfeld and Dr. Channa Maayan of Hadassah-University Hospital on Jerusalem's Mount Scopus, Dr. James Gusella and Dr. Susan Slaugenhaupt from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School and others.

Dr. Berish Rubin at Fordham University announced on January 9 that his lab had identified the FD gene as IKBKAP and two days later, the Massachusetts and Jerusalem teams announced that Blumenfeld's lab had found the FD mutations in the IKAP gene.
