[Alexander Vaniunitin], 34, of Jerusalem, had stopped by the side of the highway outside Jerusalem to smoke marijuana. [Bruno Vasili] met him there and an argument ensued, during which Vaniunitin killed him and buried his body.

Renee Poznanski and Dina Porat have won the annual Buchman Memorial Prize presented to authors, artists and researchers demonstrating outstanding achievements in the field of Holocaust commemoration. The award was presented last night at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. French-born Poznanski, an associate professor at Ben Gurion University, was awarded the prize for her book To Be A Jew in France. Porat from Argentina, heads the Jewish History Department at Tel Aviv University's Roth Institute and received the prize for her book Beyond the Reaches of Our Soul: The Life and Times of Abba Kovner. The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court yesterday extended the remand of 21 suspects arrested by police early in the day on suspicion of selling drugs to Jerusalem high school students.
