Abstract (Document Summary)

"There are only good composers and bad composers, there is no other distinction," a leading conductor once said, when asked about the place of light-music composers in the concert hall. Which is why no one should be surprised that the music of the late Moshe Wilensky finds its place in the concert hall time and again.

In 1990 the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra saluted Wilensky in a special concert commemorating his 80th birthday, giving him the stamp of approval as one of Israel's leading composers. And no wonder - "Kalaniot," "Autumn," "Ring Twice and Wait," "Each Day I Lose," and "The Last Battle" are only a fraction of his greatest hits.
