Abstract (Document Summary)

The Supreme Court yesterday heard the appeal of Margalit Har- Shefi and asked her lawyer, Ya'acov Weinroth, and prosecutor Penina Guy to submit written summaries of their cases within 80 days, after which it will hand down its ruling.

Har Shefi was convicted in the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court and Tel Aviv District Court of failing to inform the authorities of Yigal Amir's plans to assassinate prime minister Yitzhak Rabin.

Weinroth blasted [Ze'ev] Hammer's and [Avraham] Beizer's reasoning. He said they had ignored the transcript of a dialogue that took place in jail after the authorities planted Avishai Raviv in Har-Shefi's cell in the hope she would confess to him that she had known of Amir's plans. Har- Shefi did not do so: Instead, she expressed shock and disbelief that Amir had killed Rabin. "This transcript is enough by itself to clear Har-Shefi of the charges," said Weinroth.
