Abstract (Document Summary)

The paintings remain crated at MOMA, where they had been exhibited on loan from the Leopold Foundation of Vienna.

On Wednesday, Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau obtained a subpoena barring the paintings from being moved, based on claims that the Nazis stole them during the war.
