With fragile pieces, such as John Purdue's death mask, and countless books with brittle pages, archive workers decided it was best to move the pieces themselves. Since early November, they've moved library cart after library cart, one at a time, up to the fourth floor with pieces carefully wrapped in archival paper and bubble wrap.
