After marriage to Edward James Peterson in 1957, she worked in various writing and editing capacities for the University of Michigan, New York State Cooperative Extension at Cornell, University of Texas, State University of New York at Stony Brook, and Harvard University Press, and left a position as editor of Harvard Today to return to Ithaca in 1973.
