Abstract (Document Summary)

An article by Anne P. Mintz in the November 1990 issue of ONLINE ("Quality Control and the Zen of Database Production") excoriated the information industry for its somewhat callous approach to quality control. Accompanying that article was a sidebar by Ruth A. Pagell ("Sorry Wrong Number: Exchange Rates and Sales Figures"). Sales figures reported in individual countries' currencies mingled together without any conversions to a common currency. The cure for incorrect rankings should lie in the currency converter introduced into LexisNexis Company Dossier in early May 2011. The box for converting currency is in the upper right-hand corner of the Create a Company List screen. Meanwhile, incorrect industry codes are not the fault of LexisNexis. It is aggregating data from many different publishers.
