Abstract (Document Summary)

A common complaint from many participants in the author's workshops is that Google's results have become more cluttered and messy. This is hardly surprising since the simplest of searches pulls up not only webpages but also images, news, videos, books by or about the search topic, and the "latest" real-time social media. Google has now institutionalized a left-hand navigational bar to declutter results by suggesting additional search facets and has discontinued the Show options link. Meanwhile, Rupert Murdoch's News Corp announced pricing plans for two of its UK online newspapers -- The Times and The Sunday Times. Starting in June, users will have to pay L1 (about $1.44 US) for a day's access and L2 (about $2.88 US) for a week's. The two titles will be on separate Web sites, but the new subscription will cover both. Separately, BackupMyTweets ( creates a downloadable file of your own tweets. The free service requires you to tweet that you have used the service.
