Abstract (Document Summary)

Pandora (www.pandora.com) promises a new kind of radio experience. Based on the work of the Music Genome Project, Pandora lets users create an online radio station with a play list derived from the style of their favorite artists or songs, whether reggae, folk, country, classical, rock, bebop, deathcore metal, and/or almost any other genre. Pandora will quickly scan its entire world of analyzed music to find songs with interesting musical similarities to your choice. Pandora offers free access as well as fee-based subscription options. The free service is ad-supported, and users will be asked to register after they listen to a few songs. If users don't want any advertising, there's an annual fee of $36. The site also offers Pandora on the Go, so users can listen to stations on a mobile phone.
