Take a snapshot of this: a father and son in a van on a road trip spanning 21,000 miles, in search of the voices, myths, and legends of the natural world shared by indigenous peoples- from Alaska to Chiapas, from the Queen Charlotte Islands to Tierra del Fuego-all in aid of rethinking humanity's role in and responsibility to our small blue planet. The painting sticks in my memory, decades later, like honey, something sweet and innocent and trusting in it, something pure, something about what a shut-in thirsted after most of all: discovery.
