There is a very broad and very well-considered literature in people field on the challenges they face in improving user experience (UX). It's worth following because there are always new perspectives showing up. For the author part, he tend to think about UX in the context of all the information resources users confront in their research. Their profession's leading thinkers are rightly concerned with what happens in the library ecosystem. In his day-to-day experience, he sense that users are jumping between many information ecosystems and mix and match what they discover. Two doctoral candidates were sitting in a bar one night -- wait, wrong story. They were in the library, but it may as well have been a bar, because the following conversation happened during a reception. One reason things had picked up for him is that he befriended my library operations manager, who is excellent at parsing new journalism sources that many of them might overlook.
