The industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is geared to helping enterprises and industrial pursuits perform efficiently and reliably. This article presents how several companies embraced the idea of connected devices, sensors, and machines -- along with analytics that provide actionable insights -- to create and implement the best possible services for their customers. In May 2015, Gartner Inc pronounced device management and IoT solutions provider Axiros a "Cool Vendor in IoT" for its work to help service providers, enterprises, and original equipment manufacturers deploy applications on a connected infra-structure. Engineering services firm Cardinal Peak helps companies develop products that can be used for home automation as well as projects in an IIoT setting, says Howdy Pierce, Cardinal Peak's founder and co-CEO. Pierce says the idea of the IIoT is so compelling because there's a lot of devices where he could control some process centrally that he didn't use to have visibility into.
