Scientific authors might soon see their specific type of hard work reflected in future bibliographic annotations if BioMed Central has anything to do with it. Building on Mozilla's Open Badges infrastructure and CASRAI's (Consortia Advancing Standards in Research Administration Information) CRediT project, BioMed Central has begun issuing Author Contributorship Badges for researchers publishing in its open data journal GigaScience. In creating Author Contributorship Badges, says Amye Kenall, associate publisher for BioMed Central, they wanted to find a way to address transparency within this new context of authorship.
