Abstract (Document Summary)

ProQuest has just announced that its full-text content is now discoverable in Google Scholar. Since ProQuest is the producer -- and seller -- of Summon, one of the library market's leading discovery services, this announcement caught the author's eye. With the Google Scholar connection, people will identify content of interest, but acquiring the full text from ProQuest's licensed collections will require recognition of the user as authenticated to libraries holding the licenses. Google Scholar's connection will not require libraries to do any setups. One problem here is that Google will not provide a list of its sources or content partners. Usually, one has to find out by checking with the announcements coming from the partners' public relations departments.
