ProQuest wasn't a major player in the academic ebook space prior to its acquisition of ebrary in 2011, says Kevin Sayar, SVP and general manager of ProQuest Books. Now, the company is diving in headfirst with a new product, ProQuest Ebook Central, which combines ebrary and another of ProQuest's acquisitions, Ebook Library (EBL). It enhances the functionality of both services to create a unified ebook management platform. ProQuest Ebook Central is currently in beta testing with university libraries in five countries. Customers will be upgraded from their existing ebrary and/or EBL platforms at no additional cost.
