Tragedy of the Common ... Grounds
There are an awful lot of folks who use coffee shops as their workspaces. Coffee shops -- Starbucks or otherwise -- usually offer a pleasant, climate-controlled environment, along with connectivity. This has led to a unique problem for these establishments, which is known as "camping". Campers are coffee shop patrons who "camp out" for extended periods of time, essentially turning the coffee shop into their personal den, living room, or study, according to Grant Blank and Nicole Van Vooren, authors of a 2007 sociological analysis on campers. Basically, you should take up as little space as possible, be cognizant of peak times, and spend money and tip the barista well.
