The information industry should realize that pricing structures affect the ability of librarians to promote use of the industry's products or even awareness of their products' existence The bottom line is that pricing should promote usage and awareness of useful sources. The basic guiding principle for all information professionals -- librarians, information brokers, and information industry staff members -- should be to get the information product to everyone who needs it. Pricing is just another component in achieving that goal.
