This year's Taxonomy Boot Camp -- held in Washington, DC, Nov 4, 2014-Nov 5, 2014 -- asked whether taxonomies are leading the way when it comes to organizing the future. Taxonomy -- along with its cousins, onthology and metadata -- is indeed at the forefront of organizing the industry's future. During the advanced track, several speakers gave their opinions on the next steps after taxonomy creation. Based on their experiences with organizations as diverse as the US Department of State and Public Library of Science and with the Common Core educational standards, it is clear that taxonomy building is never done.
