When attending an industry conference, it can be worthwhile to consider the organizer's intent. Sitting in the ballroom of a Washington, DC, hotel with more than a hundred others attending the Association of Research Libraries Fall Forum 2014, Wanted Dead or Alive -- The Scholarly Monograph, one might assume the aim was to educate attendees about the current status of traditionally printed texts. The event's final message was that publication at an institutional level demands the consideration of economics.
