The author has been monitoring the search and content processing sector for many years. As he looks back over the last decade, none of the French information retrieval companies have reached the top of the league tables for enterprise search solutions in the US. However, a few months ago, Antidot, a search vendor with headquarters in Lyon, France, launched its initiative to enter the US market. Understandably, Antidot set its sights on the US market and kicked off an initiative in May 2014 to expand its presence in the US. Antidot's foundation is search. A typical installation provides the licensee with what Antidot calls "search relation and semantic expansion." The author found the term "searchandising" less helpful than a phrase such as "digital merchandising." Instead of licensing a complex, difficult-to-configure system, Antidot offers a snap in. Perhaps the search and content processing sector is experiencing significant competitive and economic pressure.
