Unloved, Unwanted, Unneeded ... Maybe
One of the author's hobbies is knitting. Another is watching baseball. The third: Running a research blog called FullTextReports. If FullTextReports made enough money for her to quit the Day Job, she could work on it 24/7 and still never, ever run out of reports to post. Nobody can keep up with the flood of information generated by government agencies, trade and interest groups, professional societies, nongovernmental organizations, think tanks, the private sector, and pure research organizations. The quality, taxpayer-funded research is arguably of greater interest to "We the people" than most of the 4,291 "mandated" reports. Yet the only access most of people have is via bootlegged copies made available by nonprofits such as the Federation of American Scientists and several academic libraries or via agencies such as the USDA-funded National Agricultural Law Center and the US Department of State Foreign Press Centers.
