Today, searches are no longer just text-based, thanks to technology that enables searching by and for images with images. This visual search alternative, Ran Hock notes, can be quite helpful in finding relevant images that are not easy to locate using a text search. Hock focuses on four visual search products: 1. TinEye Reverse Image Search, 2. Google's Search by Image, 3. Google Goggles, and 4. CamFind. Google's Search by Image provides some options that TinEye does not: visually similar images and pages that include matching images. And, if given enough information, Google will take a "best guess for this image." Librarian Irene E. McDermott takes another view of visualization tools in her Internet Express article titled, "Show, Don't Tell: Data Visualization for Libraries".
