A team of librarians set out to answer whether the library world can be transformed over just 1 weekend, just that March 28-March 30 in Toronto, hosting Startup Weekend's inaugural event focused on libraries. All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: Anyone is welcome to pitch his or her project idea and receive feedback from peers. Using the Startup Weekend model allowed the event organizers to take advantage of an existing local network as well as event programming and tools to facilitate running the weekend. The event itself kicked off at Mozilla's Toronto office. About 25 people pitched ideas, tackling library issues such as wayfinding and cataloging.
