Yoram Novick, founder and CEO of Maxta, has made storage a mainstay of his career. After he graduated from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer-Sheva, Israel, Novick immediately went to work for IBM. While at the computer giant, Novick began to work on storage research and development capacities, and he would continue to do so for the next 13 years. Maxta currently has about 25 employees in its Sunnyvale, CA, office, and it secured $10 million Series A funding from venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. The company defines its flagship product, the Maxta Storage Platform, as software-defined virtual machine-centric storage, which is a different approach to server virtualization than that taken by its competitors in the enterprise storage industry.
