Yahoo has been undergoing -- some would say imposing -- interface changes. A new logo is the most obvious change, but there are others. My Yahoo is available to registered users who want to create a personalized display of information. Yahoo's redesign of its Web site removed the hotlink to the My Yahoo Service. Google and Microsoft are skirmishing for users. Google has crafted software that blurs the distinction between Windows and Google. Google makes it easy for users and system administrators to "Get Your Google Back" in Windows 8. Navigate to google.com/homepage/windows8 and follow the directions. Google and Microsoft are not the only companies making interface changes. For users, change translates to confusion. One consequence is that once online services make decisions for the user, the user shifts from conscious decision making to accepting what the system outputs.
