Google and Microsoft are skirmishing for users. Google has crafted software that blurs the distinction between Windows and Google. Google and Microsoft are not the only companies making interface changes. For users, change translates to confusion. One consequence is that once online services make decisions for the user, the user shifts from conscious decision making to accepting what the system outputs.
