Big Data, analytics, metrics, and data mining are terms on everyone's lips these days. With data pouring into companies at record-breaking speed, enterprises are trying to find ways to leverage their data warehouses to boost their bottom line. But not many people are actually trained or skilled in storing, drilling, and navigating these Big Data reserves effectively to reap big benefits. That's where a trained data scientist can become a guiding light. With every industry sector using data in more innovative ways, the demand for data scientists continues to grow. Drexel University recently announced the creation of the College of Computing & Informatics, the new digs for the school's computer science and technology programs. Like many other universities, Syracuse University (SU) established an ongoing interdisciplinary collaboration within other schools in the SU network.
