[Google] has made no secret that it has bet the company on indexing and promoting social content, and no sign of this is more obvious than Google +. Google is aggressively adding social media and Google-only content into its search results pages. The first page of Google, by default, is no longer the level playing field of its early years. The first page of search results caters to many different Google priorities; catering to information scientists is unfortunately far down the list.
