In addition to traditional policy advocacy and investigative reporting, the Sunlight Foundation supports the creation of new Web tools to enable others to investigate and share information. InfuenceExplorer.com pulls together information on people, organizations, and industries from various sources. Searching the Influence Explorer database is a quick and easy way to surface connections among companies, individuals, politicians, and government agencies. Scout -- an email, text, and RSS alert service -- is intended to keep you informed of government action on the issues you care about. As with Influence Explorer, Sunlight built Scout on information feeds from a variety of sources. Sunlight was a pioneer for connecting a Web development lab to its open government advocacy mission, but, in no small part because of the openness of the community it now has plenty of company around the world. The Sunlight Foundation's Web tools and data aggregation initiatives are worth exploring so you can see their value for your research projects.
