In September 2006, when Facebook decided to open its doors to those outside academia, many post-grads rushed in full speed. According to Facebook, of the 67 million-plus active users, more than half of them are "outside of college." Even more interesting is the fact that the fastest growing demographic is those 25 years old and older. One group that seems to have exploded onto the social networking scene is journalists. Greg Notess, a reference librarian and professor at Montana State University, believes in the value of searching for information about other users on Facebook. Facebook has provided journalists, librarians, and hundreds of thousands of others with connections to colleagues around the world.
