Located on the main floor of the McLaughlin Library and on the web at www.learningcommons.uoguelph.ca, learning services provides a comprehensive time-management program, complete with print resources, workshops, an innovative web-based workshop, physical resources such as calendars and timetables, and individual counselling. Not only did [Maryann Kope] introduce me to three of the program's peer helpers, but she made no mention of the fact that I was 10 minutes late for the meeting. Take, for example, Lauren Crabbe, a peer helper and fourth-year commerce student. Clearly chosen for her reassuring smile and her confident grasp of the issues at hand, she explains that peer helpers are able to offer course-specific time management and learning strategies in a non-threatening, non-judgmental environment, where the focus is on the process of learning to manage one's schedule rather than the disastrous set of mid-terms that may have precipitated the student's visit. Leading Crabbe and her fellow peer helpers are Ashlee Cunsolo, the program's peer supervisor and Julia Bubrin, the assistant peer supervisor. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
