Taking aim at fraud Pugh's agency is part of a Medicare Strike Force, which has joined with the FBI and the U.S. Justice Department in the biggest crackdown in the nation's history against Medicare fraud. Since its inception in March 2007, the federal strike force has conducted operations nationwide and has charged more than 1,000 individuals for falsely billing Medicare for more than $2.3 billion.
