Abstract (Document Summary)
The archdiocese shuttered seven Catholic elementary schools in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park because of declining enrollments and skyrocketing debts. A feasibility study is under way, funded with a $50,000 grant from the Skillman Foundation, a $5,000 donation from the archdiocese and advisory work provided by members of the Monroe-based Immaculate Heart of Mary religious order and the Farmington Hills-based Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.
