Other famous Morris County authors included short-story writer Bret Harte ("The Luck of Roaring Camp"), Rudyard Kipling (who recuperated from a serious illness in 1899 in Whippany), poet Joyce Kilmer (who taught Latin, freshman English and algebra at Morristown High School), short-story writer Frank Stockton ("The Lady or the Tiger?"), humorist Dorothy Parker (who attended the prestigious Miss Dana's School in Morristown) and humorist Fran Lebowitz (who attended Morristown High and the Wilson School). Other entertainers with local connections include actress Laura San Giacomo ("sex, lies and videotape") from Denville and stand-up comic and movie star Janeane Garofolo (she attended Madison High School for a short time).
